4 health apps and devices that help me slay my health goals

Today, I'm sharing four different devices or health apps that help me slay my health goals and become healthier. Tune in to hear my ah-hah! moments.

We have some links and/or codes for some of these devices or apps in case you want to check any or all of them out:

Lumen - hack your metabolism. Use code PLANTCHICS to save 10%

Oura Ring - Oura has been so eye opening to me!

The supplements I doubled up on when Oura showed my body temperature was raising, indicating I could be coming down with something are the Ultimate Elixir and Ultimate Shrooms Use code LUDeal10 to save 10% on auto shipments.

Zoe (gut health) nutrition - I totally recommend participating in the study. When you opt in to do this, you also wear a continuous blood glucose (CGM) for two weeks. 5 non-food ways to optimize your gut health

gut health gut microbiome Feb 22, 2022

Since this is the last week for American Heart Month, we are dedicated this blog post to your gut microbiome, which just happens to be one of our favorite topics.

The health of your gut microbiome is most significantly influenced by the foods we eat, specifically fiber (which is only found in plants - fruits, vegetables, nuts/seeds, beans/legumes, and whole grains).

But getting adequate sleep, getting out into nature, getting regular physical activity, and not sitting too long also impact the health of your gut microbiome.

Here are some signs of gut dysbiosis

  • food intolerances and inflammation
  • skin inflammation and acne
  • poor concentration and brain fog
  • sugar cravings
  • mood disorders
  • chronic fatigue
  • sleep issues
  • weight gain/obesity
  • digestive issues
  • autoimmune problems

Do any of these hit home for you? Or for someone you know?

If so, you know we've got you covered and we will offer some suggestions on ways to improve your gut health.

Last Plant Fed Gut Masterclass of 2021

Our good friend, Dr. Will Bulsiewicz (you might know him as Dr. B - @theguthealthmd on Instagram), has opened enrollment for his Plant Fed Gut Masterclass for the last class of 2021 and we’d like to tell you about it.

Now, we understand the responsibility we hold when it comes to recommending others’ content and courses to our community. And we wouldn’t be telling you about Dr. B’s masterclass if it wasn’t something we truly supported.

The Plant Fed Gut Masterclass is a comprehensive, guided journey teaching you how to reverse dysbiosis, heal your gut, and optimize your microbiome over 7 weeks.

The goal is to help you feel healthy, plain and simple. The way you felt before food sensitivities, bloating, and messed-up bowel movements became the new “normal.” This is not a one-size-fits-all approach: He’ll give you proven tools and knowledge to figure out exactly what your gut issues are and how to get healthier.

In fact, many of...

Blue Poop Challenge

A paper was recently published in BMJ Gut about blue poo and the impact of gut transit time on the gut microbiome

In the paper the Zoe team, in collaboration with leading scientists, gave blue muffins (they're more like cupcakes!) to thousands of people and they discovered that gut transit time - the time it takes for food to travel through your GI tract - can say a lot about a person's gut microbiome.

The best part? You can take the #bluepoopchallenge too!

You can buy the blue muffins here. Or you can make the blue muffins yourself:

Ingredients

1 3/4 cups plain, all-purpose flour

1 Tbsp baking powder

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1 cup water

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp Royal blue food dye

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325F.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder and sugar in a large bowl and stir to mix.
  3. In a jug, combine sunflower oil, water and vanilla extract.
  4. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in wet ingredients.
