Nutrition + Recovery

Eating healthy and taking care of your body is an important component of recovery. It may not be the first thing you think about doing when you embark on your recovery journey, but recovery is what led me back to living a healthy lifestyle and continuing my lifestyle medicine journey.

There is so much misinformation about nutrition out there and it can be so confusing! So what does "eating healthy" mean? The short answer is: it varies. It varies based on your goals, past medical history, family history, addictions, and so much more.

What can be good (healthful) for one person in recovery may not be the best for another person in recovery.

One thing that is consistent is the health of our gut microbiome. Our gut is considered our second brain, and we've got to nourish to flourish! It's important to note that most all dietary preferences can work on improving your gut microbiome.

The single most important action you can take to improve the diversity of your gut microbiome (per the American Gut Project, which is the largest gut microbiome study to date) is to eat 30 different plants throughout any given week. Want to track the number of plants you're eating? Check out our plant tracker here.

The rest will vary.

That's why I created the Nutrition + Recovery community. This community is a sacred space for women in recovery who want to get healthier. It is a space where you can ask questions and I will provide feedback based on science, and you create a nutrition plan that works for you and your lifestyle.

I will dispel nutrition myths, you will learn about nutrition and how it can impact your recovery, and you will learn other lifestyle factors that are important to your overall health: exercise, sleep, prayer/meditation, and community.

You are encouraged to post questions and engage with the other incredible women in the community.

This Nutrition + Recovery community is open to all women who are actively working on their recovery from their addictions. All addictions are welcome. All dietary preferences are welcome.

I invite you to join our sacred Nutrition +Recovery community so you can continue to grow and thrive in this beautiful journey, called life!

You can tune in and listen to a couple podcast episodes I did on Flying Sober - The Relationship with Your Body (Episode 32 and 33).

Xoxo, Jacque
